Derek Sivers is a great guy! His website and his books are full of brilliant ideas. One of his most fascinating posts covers tech independence. He doesn't just express the opinion that people can or should reduce their dependence on any particular company or software, he provides a step-by-step set of instructions along with a script to make it easy. This website was set up mostly following Derek's instructions. For now, I'm just using it as a digital sandbox to experiment with web ideas until I figure out what I want to do with it.

I shot this photo on September 21, 2012 near LAX. It shows one of the two highly-modified Boeing 747s that served as Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) carrying the Space Shuttle Endeavor on its last flight. The flight crew performed a low pass over the runways at LAX before landing and delivering Endeavor to its final home.
